I can’t imagine militants busting into my home at night and taking me hostage for something I want no part of. Or constantly worrying about roadside bombs while simply driving along the highway. I thank God that I live in the US of A. We are so blessed to live and work in a country where I don’t have to worry bout such things.

So what is the balance between freedom and safety?
I believe this question haunts every person. I mean who can answer this question?

First let’s look at the argument.
It is: its ok to take away certain peoples freedom if you are trying to prevent other people from certain destruction.
By that I mean one dude has the keys to a bomb. Only he has it. It is going to kill 1,000 people.
How far would you go to get the key? Torture? Threaten? Mental abuse?
The greater good is an amazing mystery. We(USA) did it during WWII with the japanese interment camps in west USA. But did that make it correct? Was it right for the US to basically put away whole groups of people just because their home country decided to bomb us?
It does make for an interesting argument.
Mostly however today it is all related to terrorism.
We most recently knew about it with the waterboarding and mental torture that the CIA has done in so called secret prisons.
They are trying to prevent another terrorist act but at what cost?

I think the question of the greater good is very interesting. As an american and moral citizen I would do just about anything for my fellow citizens.
However as a believer in God I believe we are all the same and each one of us was created equal.
No man should have unquestionable power.

Chris

Well hello all,
It has been a long time. Today I’m writing this from the airport waiting to board. Going to DC for work datacenter purposes. However the meat of the post is below.
So I decide to get a starbucks at the airport(if you know me this ain’t a suprise).
The lady asks me what I want. I stumble a bit. Not because I don’t know what I want but that she didn’t know me. I mean I almost expected her to be able to read my mind like my home-starbucks.

Now is that sad or what? I like to go into starbucks and be greeted by the barista by my first name without them having to look at my card first.

Well that’s all for now folks.

Well we got home from vacation safely. We went to the beach on Saturday before we left. Then on Sun we went to church by my Aunts house. Then on Monday I stayed back from the city and worked on the boat. It was great fun. I hooked up 75% of the onboard systems. I also figured out how to get the NMEA data for the autopilot program to the computer. The engineer of the boat just has to hook up a serial cable.

When I got back work was pretty good. Busy but good. Church is going great. We are currently getting ready for friend day on August 12th. Its going to be an outreach specifically targetted to friends of members to make them feel welcome. Anyway things are starting to look up.

Next on the agenda is college. Its official. I’m signed up for Math and English at Chandler-Gilbert College at the Pecos campus. We shall see how that goes. Well bed is calling.

My new line is sysadmin by day and coder by night Have a great week everyone(if anyone actually reads this)
